RIXO Unveils RIXO RECYCLE Sustainable Capsule Collection

RIXO founders and best friends Henrietta Rix and Orlagh McCloskey have a plan to make your cottagecore fantasies come to life and be sustainable at the same time. The London-based brand, founded in 2015, is launching a 10 piece eco-friendly capsule collection, dubbed RIXO RECYCLE, on September 14 meant to provide one-off, original pieces that will last a lifetime.

According to a press statement sent to Teen Vogue, each piece in the collection, which launches with limited stock, is carefully made in a woman-owned factory in India and created with recyclable materials and fabric offcuts that would have otherwise been wasted. The limited collection is a nod to the timeless shapes and vintage spirit that defines the RIXO brand.

The 100% upcycled capsule will include RIXO’s already popular silhouettes like the MARILYN, TAMARA, and ARIEL featuring flowing skirts, sweetheart necklines, and puffed sleeves; but it also introduces new designs like the DOROTHY (a maxi skirt), the WENDY (a bohemian blouse), the CHRISTINA and CAMILLA (mini dresses), as well as the CORAL, LAUREN, and SOLVIA (maxi dresses). 

Designs range from frilled collars and pleated skirts to ruffled hemlines. The collection uses the historic process of wood blocking to create floral patterns that would make even recent cottagecore enthusiast Taylor Swift proud. 

“To create these patterns, Indian ladies by hand carefully prepared individual woodblocks by cutting away wood with a knife, chisel, or sandpaper leaving the pattern. It is necessary only to ink the block and bring it into firm and even contact with the cloth to achieve an acceptable print, which takes years of practice,” said co-founder Henrietta Rix in a press release. 

The entire process, from component sourcing to production, takes place in one place, with low impact manufacturing and reduced transportation. The collection will only be available exclusively online and in-store at RIXO, so be sure to get your timeless pieces now before they sell out!
